Raphael and his family are very welcoming and British families like the site very much.    No doubt Frogman will be along soon to convince you that you will enjoy your stay.

Unfortuneatly Fm is away up Scotland at the mo but had he been here I'm sure the picture he would have painted would be a positive one. We have been at Le B for May half term for the past 5yrs + and loved it. The kids get free roam and make friends with no probs. The site is relaxed, everyone seems to look out for each other, quiet by 10 ish and is very easy going. I believe in full season it can get a bit more lively but never been there so don't know. Re the toilet blocks well it's a standing joke 'bout the the old block. They've not changed since I've been going in over 10yrs but they're clean and functional. I've seen newer and worse over here, it's how you take them. I believe the pool has been updated for this year,we shall see as we shall be there again.(Grandad wont stand a chance)

Keep your eyes posted on this thread as I will let FM know when he returns from snowy Scotland.

If you're off there and you play a musical instrument then take it, anything can happen. See You Tube.

What happened to the Tesco vouchers ? But if you do go tunnel I would suggest allowing upto 4 hrs, for a comfortable drive, 3.5 if you put your foot down.

Re the reviews, they are a fair cross section of peoples impressions. A cracking lake full of around 50 + carp and roach to a fisherman is cool, to someone else, it is a muddy puddle. Beauty as ever is in the eye of the beholder. I think you can get an overall opinion however that the site is "comfy" but professionalism is replaced usually by enthusiasm. It was a real pity that prospector had their bad experience, but I am sure it would not be for the want to remedy the situation. Unfortunately, at the end of the big holiday season, some of the fixtures and fittings have taken a pounding.

If you do decide to go, it depends what you call a "good pitch" . With a tent, P1 has a lot of space, but P2 is at the top of a hill, P5 at the bottom, and P1 is accessed down a grassy bank between P2 and P3. It probably needs a 4x4 for comfort. Classic standard pitches are V14,15, and 16. V 8,9,10, and 11 are big but back on to the wall of the restaurant. Normally Whit week will not be solid , so there will be a choice without booking. In general the sun rises (some days) from the direction of L8/9 and they back onto a wooded hillside, so this area is dark in the mornings, esp early in the season. One or two pitches will be reserved and not available.

You don'y say what the other 3 Woodies are, but things to do?

Well there is supposed to be an all new pool layout, which should enhance the toddler experience, and keep the 7 to 10's happy . If the heating is working older "children" may take part.

30/40 mins drive you have Honfleur, Trouville (good beaches) Deauville , Villers sur mer. A bit further, WW2 stuff, and Bayeaux . There is a very good zoo/safari park 6kms and an adventure park, ( ask at reception) Lisieux 12 kms has a heated public water park with toboggan etc. There is horse riding and golf nearby .

Shopping, Blangy 3kms local shops, Cormeilles 6kms, small supermkt, Lisieux 12 kms hypermarkets. Weekly markets Monday Pont l'Eveque is the best for miles for all genuine local produce.

So there you go It does n't suit everyone, maybe it will be what you are looking for.

FM

ps The septic tank does n't overflow untill the end of the seaon when it gets full, so May you will be fine.

Wow Frogman, that is a very comprehensive repsone thank you very much.

The euro tunnel is coming in at £240-£250 return and we only have £40 in vouchers which means we have to pay half, so I thought I would go ferry and keep the vouchers for something else.  Managed to get a return crossing for £154 with SeaFrance....  Still haven't had a reply from the campsite to my email though!

Your comments re: pitches are most helpful, we had been looking at P3 and P4 and have requested them, but we do have a large tent and would need as level a pitch as possible, are these pitches level?  Which would be most suitable for large tent?

The other Woodys are a husband, 40 and two daughters 8 and 5.  I think they will all just love this site.  Husband would be more than content doing an impression of a knome with a rod by the lake!!!!!

Thank you again for your reply.

Emma.

Hi Emma

P3 and P4 are terraced. Unfortunately we are caravanners so I don't know what a big tent is. P 5 eg for a van is a cracker, cos it gets evening sun till as late as it gets, but 3 and 4 may be a bit smalll. The absolute standards are V14,15,and16, flat and large, and plenty of sun. You are near the "infamous" old toilet block, but if you are really phobic about toilets, it is not a million miles to the "new block", which is top dollar and if you have the map, is behind the cafe. Our granddaughters 7 and 10 shower with Grandma after the pool, in the new block, no probs, and trudge down with towels round their heads etc .The site is n't big enough to be a million miles from anywhere. There is a ukcs member who really likes L36 which is unlimited. If you look on my gallery, the V14,15,16 are the first photo, and P5 is to the right of the tree in the 2 nd photo.

FM
