Help, we are trying to find a cheap crossing into France to get us to the Vendee region. Would have to be in school holidays.

Any thoughts for anyone who does this regularly ?

Prices to the western ports are astronomical but if you dont mind a longer drive on the other side then the Channel ports are your best bet. Probably Norfolk Line Dover- Dunkerque.

Condor Ferries are offering free caravans on some of their Portsmouth Cherbourg crossings - see their website - and select Mainland UK promotions under the special offers button.

Otherwise, at the moment the P and O and Norfolk Lines crossings are the cheapest - or use Tesco vouchers, exchanged for deals, to pay for (or towards) a Eurotunnel crossing.

i have just bought 6 crossings form sea france, works out at £35 one way, (yes, i should know better after the speed ferries (i think they were called!)  saga!) however, thats not for towing a van, just for the car, fully amendable at no extra charge, and two returns can be transferred to friends.

we also normally only travel school hoildays, but try to pick a day when there are no surcharges etc WELL in advance! it takes us around 6 hours from calais to challans on the vendee.
