Don't know about the site and I wonder if Vichy is the right place: it's not typical of the Auvergne. Depends what you want I suppose: Vichy is interesting enough but we felt we'd 'done it' in one day. It's in pleasant countryside but it's rolling hills rather than the bigger peeks of the central/southern Auvergne. If it's big hills, lakes and rivers you want then you should be looking at Clermont-Ferrand and south/west of there.
Spot on Paul. You are so right. Ade, have a look at what "Rough Guide" says about Vichy - full of elderly, rich, genteel invalids who have come to "take the waters" in the hope of a cure. So unless you are in a wheel chair, best leave it to them. As Paul says, a day trip is enough. We have French friends who laugh and make jokes about Vichy.
I've only done municipals - plenty of them around. La Bourboule makes a good starting point but there are reviews for other sites - Mont d'Or, Murol, Super-Besse ....
