Can anyone recommend a site in the south of Lake Como as we are visiting friends in the area. It must be dog friendly but not necessarily on the lake. Thanks

Sorry you are still drawing a blank with this one second time around. If it were me I'd be looking at the nearest site in Switzerland, just across the border. How about Parco Al Sole at Meride ? But it's about 20 miles NW of Como town - is that too far for you?

Parco al Sole is a site which accepts Camping Cheques up until the 7th July, and again from 15th August.

Another Camping Cheques site, in Italy, which appears to be nearby (ish) though at the northern end, rather than south,  is Campeggio Ranocchio, which states it's just 8km from Lake Como.

Both sites accept pets, and the price of a pet is included in the Camping Cheque package of two adults, car and caravan (tent or motorhome), awning, electricity, and one pet for £13.95 inclusive.  Parco al Sole accepts 6 cheques for 7 nights, or 11 cheques for 14 nights.

Something to consider about staying in Switzerland is the outrageously expensive cost of everything, and the fact that you must buy a 'vignette' for your car - even if only travelling through for a few hours. I would certainly avoid at all costs and concentrate on Italian sites.

The only site we've used is at Bellagio (Camping Bellagio).
Very quiet, beautifully located a mile from the centre of Bellagio (gorgeous) and with ferry services to all other parts.
Run by an english woman ... BUT ... I'm pretty sure she doesn't allow dogs.
You could e-mail her and ask if an exception could be made ... she's very friendly ... especially if your pooch is quiet and well-behaved and you can promise excellent control??
