I can't help with a site but can recommend the Ile de Re: lovely place. It'll stop your 'bleu' face now anyway. Have a look on the reviews on this site if you haven't already or just try a general e-search and see what comes up?

Hi

Sorry not to be of much help but after a LOT of research this January we decided to stay at the camping du Soleil this coming August. It looked a pleasant site and not too "holiday camp" as we want a simple holiday this year.  It is only 400m from a beach and is very near a bike rental place - we are going to hire bikes for the week.

I hope that you find a good site and have a great time - heard lots of good things about the Ile de Re!

HI

My wife and I stayed at camping de la soleil two years ago, its a very nice site.

As you say approx 400 mtrs to the beach and about the same again to the centre of Ars en re. plenty of bars restaurants and cycle hire. Its a beutiful little town.

The campsite has a pool, laundry fac, and a small restaurant as well as all the usuall. The site is not very big and pitch size is just about adequate, however each pitch is quite private being seperated by mature hedges. also each pitch has its own picnic bench.

If you are going in main season I suggest you book, hope this info is of some use, happy holidays!!!

  Steve

HI Carol

In answer to your questions, we found the toilets and showers very good with one block not very old at the time, The swimming pool is behind a hedge as you drive in,so there is little noise from that area for the rest of the campers. Although some of the emplacements are small of which we chose one of these, our unit is 6.5 mtrs and i can not see the extra metre being a problem.I would recommend you walk the site before driving round it will only take you 20 minutes and well worth it.

As you drive in to the site the road widens enough for you to park up hope this info will help

As for your last question would we go again !  well you know when you find a site that you want to keep to yourself, WELLDONE you have just found one.

Happy holidays

 Steve
