Hiya

Wife fancies somewhere different this year. Previously been to Brittany, Loire, Normandy, Picardie, Rhone-Alps, Charante. She fancies Germany or Alsace region of France, Trier looks worth a visit. Would like to know if anyone has visited this region and is there a site with pools, site takeaway, close to a town with fishing on site? I know I'm asking a lot (or rather the wifey is!!) ... all suggestions welcome.

Not everything you want but a lovely site in a beautiful area.   One of our favourite areas of France with Germany across the river.

We stayed in Luxembourg for a few nights and went to Trier for the day from there.

Great Thanks - which site in Luxembourg did you stay at? We've looked at Fuussekaul and Birkelt (not sure of the spellings)!..

Luxembourg site we stayed at here.  It takes ACSI card if you can travel out of High Season.  http://www.campingcard.co.uk/gb/en/europe/luxembourg/campsite-bon-repos-108723/   Lovely area for walks etc.

What about staying on the Mosel river.  We have often stayed at Camping Burgen, North of Cochem. A good site, although I understand there are new owners now.  The site is on the banks of the river and I have often seen folk from the site fishing here.  Cochem is good to visit, and if you time it for the end of August you might catch the Weinfest (Wine festival + firework display).  Good castles to visit too: Burg Eltz is the most famous.
