Disposable bottles- now there is an idea. Thanks Cleef 15. WIll just have to check our babe can manage them as she needs a newborn teet still due to a slight laryngomalacia but would be so handy. Will need to take about 50 of them though (6 feeds x 8 days!). Do plan to use cartons to save messing with water bug again going to need loads. Looks like a full box of baby milk then! But I guess we will be taking a box of food for us too. Reassuring to know that your things have been safe. If we book a hotel (which I now think we will), then will look for one with secure carpark.

Having thought about it I am much preferring the Eurotunnel & driving. And would rather stay in our tent than a static caravan. Nothing against them as we use one belonging to my mother in the UK but all those I have seen online don't look nice, have those uncomfotable bench style seating and have too many reports of them turing out to be below standard. Am I being awkward?!! Sorry. Just want to stick to the original plan, of our tent, by the sea. Although I could be persuaded by a luxury gite if anyone has one. lol! Think I am a control freak as I am rather allergic to package holidays, and rented budget accommodation, but a tent is hardly the high life! So far I am keen on Atlantique, Fouesnant, and still looking at a few other really nice sites suggested.

We are going to give this site a go in September.   Have  a look http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=6541  gets excellent reviews on here and on Zoover.

Are you by any chance the lady I met at Le Brevedent 2 years ago in June while we were there with the Caravan Club group?

Yes, yes, yes!! Just bigger family, and therefore now bigger tent and car to put it/us all in. We LOVED Le Brevedent and really grateful to the folks on here suggesting it. Would go back in a flash if it were not for the yearning for the waves. Will go back one day though. Going to look at the site you suggest now :-).

Edit: Oooh I like the site. Looks pretty and charming, rather like Le Brevedent but by the sea.

Hi, I hope its not too late to add my thoughts here. I've just discovered this area! We are off to Southern Brittany in July for the 2nd time as we loved it so much. We are returning to the same campsite Camping de la Baie which is in La Trinite sur Mer near Carnac. The first time we went my children were 1 and 2 1/2 so we went with eurocamp for their facilities. We're taking our own kit this time but the same campsite as it is fab! My children will be just 3 and 4 1/2.

The journey worked well the first time so we are repeating it this year. We are taking the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St. Malo. It is then a leisurely 2 1/2 hour drive to Carnac. (We have a meal etc in Gunwharf Quays in portsmouth before we get on the ferry then once onboard we have a cabin in the hope that we can contain the children for some time at least!) On the way back we are going from Caen to Portsmouth, a slightly longer drive but the ferry times work better.

Sorry its so long but I'm already very excited about it, only 8 weeks to go! If there is anything else I can do then just yell.

Wow! That is the big disadvantage of the leisurely overnight to St Malo. It costs way more than that...

We got car AND CARAVAN for £58.00 return with Norfolk Lines, so £29.00 per single journey but including the caravan!
