We are thinking of taking the tent to Paris area in the middle of September. We had planned to rent a mobile home but the british companies are all booked up at this site and their own homes are a little expensive. What will the weather be like? too cold?and has anyone camped there and got some tips or thoughts?

We used to stay there quite a lot, some years ago, usually just an overnight stay, but occasionally a day or two.  However, our last visit wasn't so good - the toilet blocks were absolutely awful - I mean not just dirty, but smelly as if they hadn't been cleaned properly for a good while.  The shop/bar/restaurant/etc were all in need of some TLC.  However, I am talking about  the year of 'The Storm' in France, so it's some time ago, but recent reviews suggest that it may be the same.  This is a shame as it could be a lovely site.   Some more recent reviews here

The site is nicely situated alongside the Seine, within walking distance of a railway station into Paris.  Pitches are a good size, and separate from your neighbours.  Maisons Lafitte is a nice suburb of Paris, with some good bars and shops, and plenty of places to eat.

Someone recommended a site on the eastern side of Paris, recently, which had rather better reviews, so I'll try to find where it was mentioned.

Hi Conongirl - we went to this campsite several years ago. Its all depends what you want.   We went just to spend a time site seeing Paris and it is brilliantly situated for this purpose being walking distance of the the RER station which is only about 20 mins from Paris.

Would agree with Val the facilities are not great but if you are renting a mobile you will not have to use them anyway. Its really a campsite that you use for sleeping and getting into Paris. If thats what you are looking for then its highly recommended, but if you want to spend time on the site then no
