The trip we are planning is actually to Colmar, but that is only a stone's throw from Freiburg. We are also using NorfolkLine, into Dunkirk, so are that much further East to begin with. But essentially, it is the same journey. What we plan is to head into Belgium on the A16/E40, stay on the E40 in Belgium, spending a night around Gent, then to Brussells and the E411 down to Luxembourg. So far it is all toll free. We will then probably take the A30 down to Metz (toll road), but you could do the E29 to Saarbrucken, which would be a toll-free route. From Metz, we will head for Strasbourg (partly toll-free), then the A35 to Colmar. For Freiburg, the E35/A5 from Strasbourg would be the better route, and as it is in Germany, shouldn't cost.
I hope I've got my road numbers mostly right! We've done this route so many times that it is just a matter of pointing the car the right way and going, so we don't take too much notice of numbers.

You toll free route, motorway almost all the way would be, Calais, Dunkirk, Lille, Mons, Namur, Lux, Metz, Nancy, Epinal, Colmar, Freiburg.
Not many campsites that way tho, there appear to be some around Namur, but with a motorhome you can stop anywhere. If you don't fancy a motorway services pull off into a town & stop on a carpark.
If you take the quick toll route thru France it will cost 70€ each way at classe2 motorhome rate.
