We have had no problem using the ACSI card or C&CC card as a security card to leave at reception.


Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

The Law in France obliges people without an Identity card to carry their passport at all times. Since we no longer need or are able to obtain an identity card we are obliged to carry passports. I see no reason though why campsites insist on keeping them, I would have thought it a bit dangerous. I know in the past they took the details from them when staying in Hotels and the local Police came around every night and checked them. But I don't think that has happened for years. I would be very reluctant to part with mine.

Following the advice earlier on this thread, we decided for the first time not to bother with a CCI. We only had one slightly bizarre experience as a result of that: on one site, our ACSI card was handed back to us, but we were asked for another plastic card that could be kept with our details at reception. I certainly was not going to leave a credit card or most of the bits of plastic I had in my purse, but I did have several versions of our RAC membership card, so I offered one of these. This was readily accepted. Very strange!

If your referring to the ACSI card or the camping checks you must inform the reception when you arrive that you intend to use them they then usually take the card & give the discount when you pay the bill
