Hi All

This is the first year we are taking our dog to France with us in our MH - I've read up about taking the dog to a vets 48 hours before leaving etc etc and wondered if anyone can share their experiences as we are quite nervous about making sure everything runs smoothly - we have contacted our campsite (Chateau des Marais, Muides sur Loire) and they have given us the name of the nearest vet which is Mrs Moreau 14 place hotel Dieu 41500 MER - do we need to make an appointment etc etc?

Cheers

Laura - there are lots of other posts about dogs/vets in France - have a look here for a selection.  Your post is at the top, but I'm sure reading through the others will help.

I think the general opinion is that it's best to make an appointment, making sure that you see the vet but allow the correct time interval before your ferry sailing.

Lots of people take their dogs to France, so I don't think you need feel nervous about it.  It all appears to be very straightforward.

Like Val says, it is very straightforward.  If you know exactly where and when you will be between 24 and 48 hours before your return ferry I would book the vet in advance.  We, however, have changed our plans so many times and are still changing them (we don't even know now which country we'll be in!!) we will wait till the time and phone around for nearest vet!  I am comfortable enough having taken the dog the last 2 years to France that this will be easy enough.

dont worry - its a lot easier than you think, of course if its your first time you will be a little nervouse, but honestly, no need to worry.

we always book the 'rendezvous' at the vets for the return journey within a day or so of our arrival on site, that way we know its all done and dusted and all we need to do is to turn up at the vets at the appointed time. it cost us around 50 euros (big dog) - most of which is for the treatments

hi Laura, I have a labrador and I was 56 euros at the vet in Eperleques. I also was very nervous last year being out first time with the dog and in France. Honestly now, I wonder why!
