We're going to La Garangeoire next July and crossing using the Chunnel.
I'm looking for a stop-over at around the half-way mark which I've calculated to be just off the N138 fairly close to Alencon.
Does anyone have any recommendations of a site near there? Preferably with an electronic booking (i.e. web or email) or english speaking reception (as I'm ashamed to say my French isn't good enough to even try and book a site yet).
Any advice gratefully received...

------------- Miserable cartoon character! Not to be confused with the other 'mr grumpy'.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Did the same route a few years back and stayed in a place called Sees which is just north of Alencon. Nice little place with a municiple. Memory serves me there are a few sites along the N148 so you shouldn't have a problem.
I've always gone around that time of year, in fact a week later and never had problems finding a municipal. Don't leave it to late to book in though otherwise you could have problems. Stopped in some 2 years ago and by 6pm it was full, that was on the main route south though. I haven't had a problem in that area. You should have a great time at La Garangeoire too, went there for 8 or 9 years on the trot.

Hi, stopped at Sees on a few occasions. I'm sure you can book in advance. Some of the pitches are not that big and it might be tight for a big outfit. There is a supermarket across the road which also sells fuel. You will get an early morning call from the factory nearby (a bit like the two minute warning)but it is a good site.
Also consider La Fleche, further past Le Mans, a bigger site next to a river and a nice Town with a good market on Wednesday's.
