Has anyone been to this site? I have looked for reviews but had no luck. Thanks.

I think you mean here......

http://www.muellerwiese.de/frame2.htm

We stayed there about five years ago, in fact it was our first foreign campsite on our first continental trip. We were on the way to Austria and had pre-booked a three nights here to break the journey and show the kids the delights of the Black Forest.

The village near the site is attractive with some attractions for the tourist, I recall an interesting crazy golf near to the site. We also took the opportunity to go to Baden Baden which,as a much bigger town has more to offer and has a very relaxed atmostphere. You may recall that England footy team based themselves there recently, plenty of exclusive shops for the retail therapy!  There was a large tourist park with a mile long slide down thro' the woods  and other features for the more adventureous, also close to the site.

We arrived late and it was getting dark when we had to erect the tent. It was a large Vango Diablo and the pitch had been pre-booked. The tent wouldn't fit on the pitch so we ended up with only two of the three bedrooms 'pulled out' to get finished before complete darkness set in! We were there in late July and surprised how cool it was overnight, only a few degrees above freezing when we put the tent away to move on at the end of our stay.

Toilets/showers were through a locked gate which we had a key for but were quite poorly lit at night. Coin operated showers I recall. The whole area is very keen on energy conservation and I guess that explains the coin operated showers and the dim lighting!

With no other campsites in the area to compare to I'm undecided whether or not we would go back to this site. Maybe the temperatures we experienced were not the best of memories. The area is picturesque and some lovely unspoilt areas around. I think I would put the site into a 'small and friendly' category with probably better facilities elsewhere if that's what you're looking for.

Feel free to ask if you need to know more.

Thanks for your reply, it's useful to get some idea of the site and area. We still can't decide where to go, or for how long, but will certainly head for the area.

We just spent 8 days on this site (july 2011) and loved it! The car-free tent area was wonderful and now has its own toilet and shower block. We could let the kids run free as the stream and playpark were in view of the tent. Pitches were big enough (for some very large tents!) and the lack of cars and space dividers led to a very sociable site. The village has good pubs/restaurants, with children's menus, and the bakers is wonderful! Also, people staying there get a Konus card, which gets you free bus and train transport throughout the Black Forest and discounts on some attractions. We used this to do one way walks though the woods, visit Bad Wildbad (the kids were welcome in the thermal baths!) and the open air pool over the hill. The toboggan run is also a must! My only criticism is the lack of grocers in the village. We had to drive to a supermarket for fruit and beg. Would I go back? Yes, please - tomorrow if I could! One of the best sites we've stayed on.
