We are probably off to Denmark on the Dover Calais route in the summer. I'm figuring we need to stop somewhere between Eindhoven and Osnabruck. Has anyone any suggestions for one night stays with a tent in that region? And if anyone has done any camping dansk style recently I'm after tips. Family with children 7 and 5.

Hi, Denmark is great. Go for July, Juni might be cold. So might July.

Where in DK do you plan to go?

South of Fuen is beatifull!

So is Mols, north of AArhus and west of Ebeltoft.

Mariager camping is also very nice - but there are many nice places in Denmark.

Let me know more of where I can be a help.

Happy Camping

I'm so jealous I love Denmark, my brother use to live there but came back to England about 10yrs ago. We use to go every year to see him.  Can't wait to take my young children to see legoland and Tivoli but it won't be for at least a couple of years. Enjoy!!!!

We are going at the end of July to catch the end of the Danish school hlidays and the beginning of ours. We have family spread about the the east from Lolland to Copenhagen so we will be traveling about seeing them and . Lolland is the first stop after the long drive as we don't have to pitch the tent there! Once we have recovered, it's Jutland,, Legoland, the beaches, The Viking Ship Museum (we went a couple of years ago but I think the younger children are old enough now to appreciate it). A few cultural days in Copenhagen for Tivoli and family.

I suspect legoland will be the last thing to do before the long drive back.

Out of curiosity how long is the drive from Calais to Copenhagen? We use to fly and the one time we did take the car we sailed from Harwich to Hamburg, but that route has long gone?

We did a simliar trip last year and stayed at Vakantie park de Zanding which would be suitable for your family. The children will love it. Although it is huge it is well run, with lots of facilites and is in the Camping cheque book. We even used it as a stopover on the way back as well.
You can read about our whole trip at Germany/Denmark/Sweden

If you plan for around 15 hours total time you won't be far wrong.
Thats cracking on but not racing and including the 45min ferry from Puttgarten and a few comfort stops.

Nice campsite within a stones throw of the Puttgarden Ferry if you want to overnight en route.

Thanks for all the advice so far, I've been away camping this week so only just catching up!

We are starting from south west england so our day1 plan is to drive home - dover lunchtime ferry to calais then about 3-4 hours max beyond to stop. (somewhere about Eindhoven I think)
Day 2 - Eindhoven to Lolland (including the Puttgarten ferry should be about 7 hours)

Is there much difference in price for Puttgarten between advance booking and just turning up?

Day 3/4 with family in Lolland, CPH day 5-8 then over to Fyn for a day or 2, up to Billiund for Legoland for a couple of days. Looong drive back to Endhoven, night stop then last day back to Calais.
