Thanks to everyone especially Oxter, interesting reading but can't remenber the aphrodisiac thing working ha ha. From memory the rognons blancs may have been there on the menu but with a sauce, so sounding a bit special. However not a complete waste of money she still goes green today when the subject is mentioned.[ hope she never reads this ] otherwise it might my bits on the menu,
Couldn't have been as bad as 'Andouillette' sausage! Truly horrific! I managed to eat it all whilst gazing longingly at the steak my wife had ordered which was cooked to perfection!

Love them ... remember at a big party in Spain ... first course was ... bb's .... half way through, I'd finished and was still hungry ... so, I innocently asked: "D'you know what you're all eating?" ... after being advised I was able to pig out!!
Forget what they are ... if they taste nice ... eat them!
Now ... anyone for deep fried locusts ... they taste just like crisps!
"Coucougnettes" are another such alleged delicacy - the ones we experienced were from Cockerels and according to our French friends are eaten quite regularly, especially in rural areas by older people, sliced and fried (the coucougnettes, that is, not the older people!).
