Booked a cheap deal with DFDS back in November but couldn't get the return day I wanted, so had to book for the day before. Checking the website today, I noticed that the day I wanted was now showing available (cancellations, I guess?), so gave them a call and they amended my sailing to that day! No hassle, no quibble and, best of all, no cost!
An extra days holiday - woohoo...I need to sit down...

If this is the old Norfolk Line then this has always been the case. No ammendment fee and no charges for turning up early or late. I always found them to be the best of the ferry lines. Great customer service which is all you want really.
Isn't that normal? Seafrance have always done that for me! Including when I rang them a while after having made a booking and told them that a new offer would have made it cheaper, they just refunded the difference! I assume that level of service and have never been disappointed!
Definatley great customer service from DFDS (aka Norfolk Line), we had to cancell this years crossing, due to a family bereavment, made the booking last October for Car+Caravan, and they gave me a full refund, well done DFDS.

We had a ferry booked for our Aviano 7.03 length - for 18th June, but have now changed to a Elegance i821G motorhome which is 8.87, so quite a difference in length. Called DFDS ferry to change the details, quoting TEF04, which was the promotional code from the NEC in October 2010 (£59 return). Expected to pay more for the additional length of 6 foot....was pleasantly surprised that the amendment was changed for NO additional charge. Still £59 return. Brilliant customer service
came back early from france last year due to illness and they were more than happy to charge me even though the ferry was half empty, it cost me more to travel back early ( 24hrs ) than the original fare and they were most unhelpfull

Strange. We came back 3 days early due to illness and we were just waved onto the next ferry. We have used them for years and no matter what time or day we have showed up NL ticket collectors dont bat an eyelid. They have just processed the ticket and sent us on our way.

I'd agree with the majority of these posts - we've had brilliant service from Norfolk Lines in the past. We've had to change crossings, arrived early, arrived late, once arrived without passports(story posted elsewhere - and Yes, we did sail without them!), and each time there has been 'Pas de Probleme' either in England or in France!
I don't like the longer time their sailings take, nor the loading/unloading arrangements, but I have to say their customer service is brilliant.
For anyone who booked the NEC special offers, part of the terms and conditions was 'Free Amendments' - so even at the £58.00 we paid for a return crossing for car and caravan, there's been no problem changing sailings/timings/etc.
Interesting! They have just charged me £20 amendment fee to reschedule our return crossing!!
I mentioned that people on here had not been charged and was told that the fee had always been in place!!
We are going via DFDS (Norfolkline as was) again this year. We've had both excellent and poor customer service over the years so it will be interesting to see whether the new ownership makes any difference.
We booked the crossing last October using the NEC code and have already amended the return crossing over the phone - no charge.
Last year - when it was still Norfolkline, we arrived early at Dover (about 5 hours) and were told in no uncertain terms that we wold have to pay to amend our crossing, even though it was the middle of the night and the boat was by no means full. We chose to leave the port and had a few hours sleep on the sea front.
Seafrance charged us on numerous occasions when we turned up early and wanted to get on earlier crossings!
The one occasion we arrived around 10pm the POrt Car park was full so we struggled to park up our caravan. We asked if we could get on the next crossing, which they said was 3am and they wanted 90 quid for us transfer. That was the last time we used Seafrance.

last year p&o, dover to calais, 3 hours early. they put us on an earlier ferry at no cost. five years prevous, ostend to dover a day late!!!!!(how we still laugh at that one) still no charge, just a bit of micky taking at check in.
i phoned them and wrote to them when i got home to complain about the charge and rude service and was told in no uncertain terms they were there terms and conditions and they would not be prepared to do anything to help
