Savanne - you never said anything about the caravan being damp - what rotten luck.  Are you going to get it 'sorted out' or buy another or stick to the motorhome again?

we could still use the motorhome but you've seen it bigtoe, its a bit big to explore those narrow roads and lovely little villages in .  Also the inlaws have rented there apartment out in Devon this summer so will be using the MH more.

We are looking for another van, we took the damp van back prepared to let them to sort it properly, what we got was a very irate dealer who ranted at us and said the rotten wood wasnt and that it would be fine when it dried out! His response left us gobsmacked as according to him the van had been dry three weeks prior when we picked it up. Where the water was entering the van we found a strip of mastic which he said had nothing to do with the damp and would not listen (actually told me I didnt know what I was talking about). After a 20 min rant from him we asked for our money back and we got the cheque on Tuesday.

So as to what we go to France in, well it will be a caravan once we find another one! We loved the weekend we went away in the damp one and know for us a van is the right way to go.

Hi, we went to TyNadan at whitsun with Canvas on one of their cheap deals and we had a brilliant time , we booked a tent but when we got there the rep told us that we could upgrade to a mobile for £30 , the tent was lovely but teenage daughter wanted the luxury of mobile (hairstraightening etc. you know what their like!!), this is something that Canvas have started doing if they aren't fully booked. The people next to us had paid nearly £600 for same mobile (they had the insurance and damage waiver mentioned in an earlier post ) . We used Tesco vouchers on the tunnel and stayed in the BBhotel at Rouen on the way there and back, hope to go again next year as kids had a fab time and even the weather was good for us (we are usually guarenteed rain wherever we go ) Lou

What are the Canvas tents like?  Is it a loose groundsheet or SIG?  I like the idea of the tent bargains, but can't comtemplate the chance that creepies will get into the tent!

To be honest i hadnt really noticed, i think they are loose, but they are so tight fitting you its not really a problem, lets face it, even if you have a SIG, they can still come through the front door!

the Canvas tents havent got a SIG but like warbis says they are a really good fit. We also like the layout with the kitchen at the back having its own door, much prefer this layout to the Keycamp/Eurocamp tents.

I don't mind the main bit of the tent being non-SIG but need to have a bedroom that can be sealed all round, as I really wouldn't get any sleep if there was any possibilty of spiders getting in - I'm terrrified of them!  Would rather take my own tent for peace of mind if the bedrooms don't seal completely.
