We're thinking about nipping over to France on thursday for a week or so, can anyone give us advice on a decent site within a couple of hrs of Calais that is toddler friendly? We will be using our own gear, so basically any destination within 2-3hrs of Calais..
Thanks for the help in advance folks..

Would you consider a western crossing, if so, what about Brittany? If you are interested give us a shout and i can recommend some great child friendly sites.
We're off to york tomorrow for a bit of sightseeing and a stop off, then on the tuesday heading down to MK to visit relatives - so we're thinking as we're this far down why not... Dover would be the best crossing for us, so Picardy/normandy/Belguim?holland?luxembourg would be easily do-able and a pretty cool extra break for the kids..
Make sure you book your ferry online. You can do that as late as the day before. Don't just turn up at the port & pay, it will be expensive.
Good area is Baie de Somme less than 2hrs down the coast from Calais. If you want to go the the other way then Zeeland province, the first part of Holland is ok. Anywhere within 3hrs of Calais ain't that spectacular tho. The coast in either direction is a bit like Kent/Essex/Suffolk.
The 'continental' atmosphere is all there tho so its ok.

Any specific sites that you would recommend? I checked the ferry prices last night and they are still very cheap CIRCA £50, but thanks for the heads up re booking on-line..

With a week away I'd head a bit further, over to Lac D'orient which is a lovely site, takes camping cheques and has a bouncy casstle and ball pool for toddlers. It has a bit of a beach on the lake and you get seven nights for six cheques.
