Can anyone advise me how I go about visiting the champagne houses in Reims and Epernay, particularly interested in Veuve Cliquot, Moet & Chandon and Bollinger.  Does anyone know of any good websites to visit.  I think you have to book a tour but not found a website that advised how to do this.  Any help appreciated.  Kindest Regards, Audrey

Buy, beg, or browse in bookshop the Rough Guide to France. Details are all in there - some visits need to booked, some don't.

VC say you need to book around 4 weeks in advance. Moet around 2 weeks. You can book via their websites, VC you email them, Moet I couldn't get into their site properly so not sure.

Mercier was one we were thinking of as has a train ride, so maybe better for the kids, and you don't need to book that one so means we're not committed. Although we're going to Lac D'Orient and ends up it is a fair way to Reims and Eperney so we may just stick to smaller local ones.

The first one we ever did was Mumm in Reims. We didn't have to book ahead for that and it was a very entertaining experience. Nice champagne, too!

We did that one two - with our 3 teenage kids. They have had the taste for it ever since.

Hi, we did Tattinger in Reims. It was great and I don't think we booked either.

Can recommend Piper Heidsieck - great tour in a little train around all the caves with english commentary - end the tour with a glass of champagne.

Most of the prime name with HQ's in Epernay City allow visitors/ have guided tours, although I suggest you contact them via their website. The local tourist information centre will definately advise you.

If you go to Epernay it is well worth exploring the region, Chablis is particularly lovely.

Epernay Cathedral is a sight to behold, incredible and a World Heritage site.

Epernay is geared towards people who fly in, drop into the Champagne house to collect a case or three, so be aware that some of the restuarants especially at the bottom of Avenue De Champagne are 'Tres Cher'

I think it is Reims Cathedral that is the World Heritage Site. I don't think Epernay actually has a catherdral, but I may be wrong.
