Vodafone have changed their data roaming charges again.
For pay monthly, the daily charge in Europe (EU + Norway and Switzerland) is now 2 GBP per day for up to 25MB. You don't need to do anything to change on to this plan. You can pay 10 GBP (sorry no pound sign) per month for 25MB per day also - you have to opt in for this.
Data roaming in the rest of the World is 5 GBP per day for 25 MB - you have to opt in for this also, but still 1.65 GBP per min to make a call!
Data is a lot cheaper than it was before they changed it about a year ago and made it more expensive. What are the other companies doing?

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

In the past when I have used my contract dongle in Europe I have used the Vodaphone tarrif which gave you 50mb daily download for £10 a day. This new tarrif looks interesting. The only problem with 25mb allowance as it could be swallowed up by windows updates! I did use the dongle once on te recent trip but have not yet had the bill so I will watch with interst what they charge me!

Update before you leave the UK and then turn off automatic updates should solve that problem. I would be interested in a dongle with this tarrif. Is that contract or PAYG. Dont really want another contract

When you are away for a couple of months at a time its not so easy to turn essential updates off. Obviously if you use campsite Wifi that should take care of most updates but if you forget you could use all of your allowance!

Vodafone generally only allow data roaming with their contract dongles but there is an 'occasional contract' which cost £3 a month and then £2 a day in the UK and I assume roaming at the rates mentioned previously above.

Thanks David. I will look into occasional contracts.

Thank you Tefkas - you've just saved me £10!!!! I called them this morning to check charges etc as I am very soon going to france for 10 days. The chap said everything you mentioned but didn't tell me about the £10 fixed charge. I've just called them back and added it. Thank you very much!

Usually this site costs me money as I keep "needing" new things that I read about but you've just saved me money!
