We took our dog plus children last summer for the first time, in a tent. The only real problem was that we couldn't all visit the swimming pool at the same time when it was really hot, because the dog couldn't sleep in the car, and we don't like to leave him staked on his own. Apart from that it was great fun, and we chose sites with lakes so he could swim etc with us there. It felt quite strange eating inside a typical French restaurant with the dog at our feet! Will definitely do it again - but possibly not too far south, because the heat is difficult if you have a furry coat, even in the shade.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Its in danger of turning into a pro dog, anti dog post. Not bothered about your opinion on dogs in France or any other country.
Just want to know your experiences of taking dogs to France or not. Thanks for the many helpful posts. Look forward to hearing about the experiences of other dog owners or dog-owners-to-be
Update is our puppy will arrive at our house at the end of September. Already started planning for our 3 week summer hols in Alps next year. Thanks all!
