I posted a similar question just over a week ago on the camping abroad forum. The general view is that cotton tents are naturally cooler but instead of shelling out on a new tent just ensure you ventilate your tent and have some shade available.

The tarps from Decathlon seem quite popular for providing some shade. I tried one last year but didnt find it very useful, but i think a couple of extra poles with the tarp would give you quite a flexible set up for providing shade. Look on the tent review section here for Quechua tarp.

p.s. Poly cotton tents are very expensive. If you do want a new cooler tent check out ebay for second hand cabanons. You can generally pick something up for £150 that will do you for many years to come. They are generally much bulkier than poly tents though so check you have room in your car first.
