Hi all, we're thinking Brittany for two weeks with 2 girls,3 and 16 months.we have an outsell Viginia 5 and the front awning. Would this be up to it, or would you recommend a poly cotton tent?any hints and tips greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I posted a similar question just over a week ago on the camping abroad forum. The general view is that cotton tents are naturally cooler but instead of shelling out on a new tent just ensure you ventilate your tent and have some shade available.
The tarps from Decathlon seem quite popular for providing some shade. I tried one last year but didnt find it very useful, but i think a couple of extra poles with the tarp would give you quite a flexible set up for providing shade. Look on the tent review section here for Quechua tarp.
p.s. Poly cotton tents are very expensive. If you do want a new cooler tent check out ebay for second hand cabanons. You can generally pick something up for £150 that will do you for many years to come. They are generally much bulkier than poly tents though so check you have room in your car first.
------------- Manor Park Farm, Cromer every august, but somewhere different every may/June.
4 years of superior packing yet still no room in the car
We camped in Brittany last august, and you should be fine in your tent, the weather is pretty similar to UK, infact it rained every morning we were there, then sun would come out by 3pm. Its a lovely place though, we stayed in st cast le guilldo.
We've just done a week in SW France with a canvas tent, not sure what the temp difference is between that and polycotton, but am absolutely sure we would have cooked in the Icarus.
Even so, we didn't really go into the tent during the hot midday hours, and we chose the shadiest pitch we could. It would definitely have benefited from a tarp across the front, or even the shade type awning you can get to put over the tent.
