Simplon pass is easy with caravan. The quickest route will be through the lotschberg tunnel. see

We have used it with a 7m van on 2 occasions

We stayed once in a place called Frutigen about 20 mins from interlaken and we went to kanderstag and caught the train( bit like antiquated channel tunnel) drove on drove off at gopperstein. Then up to Brig and over the simplon ( ok for towing as swansea jack says) and that took us to Maggiore where we stayed in Baveno.

In Interlaken earlier this year, we stayed at TCS Interlaken. Very good for the town, right beside the river, quiet, and reasonably priced. Good facilities too, but no pool.

We got turned away from Alpenblick as we have a large twin axle van and they claimed it was too heavy for their grass and too big for their site roads!!

OH argued with them....that did not go down well!

We did exactly this route with a campervan last year, took the Kandersteg tunnel both ways plus the Simplon tunnel one way and the Simplon pass on the way back.

For an easy life with a caravan I'd take the tunnel both ways, either way it's easily do-able in one day.
