We have not been to France for a few years, and I can remember that we had trouble finding a garage open on Sunday after getting off the Calais ferry. Have things changed nowadays , if so where is the best place to get diesel Sunday morning so I don't have to fill up in UK before ferry. We are off to Annecy last visit was 20 years ago when we went tenting - now towing caravan.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
If you're using the autoroutes then all the fuel stations will be open, so you shouldn't have a problem.
There is a fuel stop on the A26 just south of St Omer - about half an hour from Calais. Distances to the next fuel stations on the autoroute are on signs at the side of the road - and often these show the next two or three fuel places, with prices per litre.
The petrol station at za marcel dorat is open on sunday, just turn left off junction3 towards pidou wine warehouse. If you turn right at that exit you can use carrefour for fuel, slightly cheaper, but you will need to use a card to pay for fuel at the 24 hour pump.
Come off the ferry on the motorway split head for Boulogne but stay in left lane take next exit off (signed for St Omer RN) take 2nd exit off roundabout towards Calais 500yds on left BP garage with plenty off room. 2cents per litre dearer than supermarket but a lot cheaper than Autoroute and most garages.
It is a proper garage with a shop and till not an annoying automatic site.
The only time it is closed is from 2200 Sat night to 0500 Sun morning, otherwise open all the time.
Villages still shut on Sundays however many of the supermarket petrol stations will take a visa debit card at the pump so you can still use them if you need to. We fell fowl of a half day shutting of all the local shops and garages the day before we left and had to use a debit card to fill up despite wanting to use cash!
If I land on a Sunday then I just use the first Aire I come to on the Autoroute to fill up. Its hardly worth the hassle of going off route to save a few cents a litre on one tank of diesel.
Yes, almost without exception. In the last three or four years we've not had a problem using our cards at 24 hour pumps. Some 'Pre-payment' cards apparently can cause problems but not 'normal' debit or credit cards from your bank.
On Sunday 24th I went to Leader Price to fill up before returning to the UK. I used my Natwest debit card which charges me 1.50 per transaction plus a percentage of the purchase. After pumping .15 cents worth of diesel the pump ran empty - -the most expensive teaspoon of fuel I have ever bought.
