We arrive at soleil plage on 20th august, cant wait!

Can you make sure the people on pitch 168 leave it nice and tidy lol.

You might be able to help me out captain blood. Do you know if they hire out tag along cycles for kids(the ones that attach onto the seat post of the adult bike). I need one for my 6 year old so all five of us can go on bike rides together. Im taking 4 bikes down .Dont really want to buy one and not sure if I can fit it in/on already overloaded car.

Whats the site like? Hope the good weather continues!

Site is very good
but the location is wonderful

Right next to the best spot we have found in 60km of france's cleanest rivers. No traffic other than camping traffic, no trains and only the occasional hot air balloon. River beaches aren't as good as sea beaches but you have pebbles and sand - and an island to get to. We judge a summer by the access to the island - in a dry summer you can paddle to it without getting shorts wet but in a wet year only the teenagers jumping in upstream get there. The IMPORTANT point is that if you lose your footing in the current you don't need to struggle - go with the flow and it pops you on a bank or washes you up on the shallows not far down stream. A range of blow up water toys and water shoes is a good investment - In good years I walk a mile or so up stream and float down in a ring - superb. If you email the site and ask about bike hire I bet you will get a reply in the day. They all speak good english in reception.

thanks tethers end. River sounds good fun.We will take our wet shoes and wetsuits .Like the sound of no traffic noise. Should I take a rubber dingy/blow up toys or are they available at a reasonable price down there?

You don't need wetsuits - its not that cold - about the same temp as the Med

The silence is stunning - unless you are an owl - also enjoy the stars as the milky way cuts the sky.

You may pay a Euro or two over the odds for the blow up toys when there - but I'd pack them in place of wetsuits so I can go play in the river rather than go shopping for blow up toys [although there will probably be a selection in the campsite shop]. If there's not what you want in teh site shop go up to the chateau, turn right, second left is signed Sarlat, follow the road through the fields, past the sports centre and you pop out by a small l'Eclerc [with fuel] without seeing any traffic!!!!!

This time next week we will be there - ready for the start of the heat wave

Wilber.

Not sure if there is a tag along cycle.Noticed there was a cart for 2 kids. The area is quite hilly out of the surrounding areas. Some of the roads are hilly and winding with no foot paths. An example of this is the road from Montford to Carsac.I cycled up it yesterday and there's no way i'd let my kids do is as its far too dangerous.Nearby there are some proper cycle routes which would be best to drive to.One is just  south of Sarlat.Leaflets for these are in the reception.

Weather has been red hot again today. We went on our first canoe trip ever today.Great for 1st timers like us.We did the nature one that takes about 2hrs.Lots of places to stop along the river for a picnic.

Most important for dads regarding pool at Soliel Plage swim shorts are allowed.

Robin,

Thanks for the info. I wondered what it would be like for cycling. Proper cycle paths for us then. I've found a hire company with tag on bikes. We fancy the canoe trip, sounds great. Would we be able to all go in one canoe? There are 5 of us kids aged 12,8,6. Good news on swim shorts. Funnily enough i've just bought a pair of trunks for myself and boys thinking shorts would'nt be allowed as is the norm in france.

Wilber
