Is it possible to watch programmes via I player or 'On demand' or the like abroad on your laptop via the wireless connection if the campsite has it?

More than likely we won't bother as there is so much to do hence am asking out of 'techno dunce' curiousity really!

Generally not. When I have tried it usually comes up with not available in your region. On our recent trip to the Baltic which was out of reach for our satellite dish I tried using iPlayer and got the out of region message.

not much selection but a few of interest.

Another way is to get a Slingbox.
I got one a couple of years ago because I travel a lot for work. Works well mostly. Some countries are a challenge but they even block UKCS!

I should have mentioned that ExpatShield is free, whereas iPortal seems to want 50€ per year sub and the slingbox has to be bought also.

Works in these countries:

Denmark, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, and the United States. In Switzerland, Germany and the UK, the basic service is free.

I used it in Switzerland earlier this year got most UK channels, Germany was more limited. Not tried the others listed.

Also remember that most shared routers in Hotels/campsites etc etc limit your connection speed so no one person can hog it, so you may find your watching the "buffering" message more than the program itself!!!
