I love Germany as do all the people I have taken there, just go and enjoy it, I would be banned from telling you where to go as it would take soooo many pages, the scenery, the food, the people are all brilliant I just love it!!!!!!

i agree,i totally love german, well i goto the east side anyway. good food (apart from german cheese!!!!!!!!!!!!) good beer, good people etc etc. wouldnt want to goto france or spain where most people go.
telling someone from here you like to holiday in Germany gets you funny looks..but its there loss!
Where's best, the Bavarian Forest or around Garmish area? I went to Garmish years ago as a child and would like to go back. We'd also like to get another reasonably priced pre-erected tent next year, all the companies I've looked at don't go to the Alps, but do few in the forest. Then again you can't beat somewhere new

i like saxony, dresdens a great place (also lived there)
We stayed at a iydlic small lake side campsite near Iffeldorf (SW of Munich) at the end of July. Fantastic location for looking round the area. About 45 mins north of Garmish. No pre-erected tents though.
Re: the 80 km/h limit when towing.....both the father and son of the family we met up with are German Traffic police officers and they asked me what the limit on the autobahn for towing was!! They guessed it must be 100 km/h for non-German vehicles (i.e. as we must have a comparable test to their TUV in our country), but said they were much more focussed on driving standards than enforcing speed limits on the autobahn.
I was towing a folding camper and cruised nearer the applicable French towing limit through Germany and Italy.......I was either lucky or it's not enforced.
