I get free breakdown cover with green flag via my bank account. I've just got a quote to upgrade for european cover for £70 for the year. Seems really reasonable as can use early next year. Does that seem reasonable, are there any specialist companies?

You would pay more than that for a single trip, so yes I think it's good value.

Looks good...check how long any one trip can be and the policy on repatriation, if you have any worries try ADAC at about £85 for unlimited travel in year.

If you're not towing a caravan, then I think almost all of the breakdown companies will offer what you want - roadside assistance, towing to a garage, car hire if necessary, and emergency expenses (taxi, hotel, etc).

If you're towing a caravan then it's more of a minefield.

I compared cover earlier this year, and would advise a careful read through what the small print 'terms and conditions' state and try to compare like with like.
