Hi All,

I am looking for advice on campsites in the Cannes/,Agde area in the south of France.I have been looking at the camping cheques site and there seem to be quite a few down there. Can anybody reccomend a site that they have been to.It does not have to be all bells and whistles as I will be travelling with my present wife and the kids will be left behind for the first time...

The site does have to be clean and hopefully with decent sized pitches. We are travelling next April for a week so cc`s wont be a problem. Also whats the weather there usually like in early April.

Many Thanks,

John

I presume you're looking at suggestions for both areas - which are 355 kilometres apart!

Camping Neptune at Grau d'Agde is a good one - but is becoming very popular with Camping Cheque customers.  We were there in May and it was all but full (very different to some of the other Camping Cheque/ACSI sites we stayed on).  Some of the pitches are a good size - some a bit smaller.  Access around the site can be a little tight but manageable.  It's ideally situated between Grau d'Agde (beach) and the town of Agde (market, Canal du Midi, lots of cheap restaurants).

We haven't stayed around the Cannes area - but did stay on several of the sites in the Camping Cheque brochure, in Cavalaire - a good destination, and just a bit away from the crowds and the traffic (yes even early season) further along the coast.

"Camping Le Logis De La Brague" at Biot, first went there in 1962 with my parents, and then went there with my girl friend during the late 70's, who later became my wife, so we returned during the 80's and 90's, our Son now 26 went there back in 2009.

There is a review on here, it's a great no frills campsite, about 500 yards from the beach, and very good value for the area, the campsite is within walking distance of Antibes just!, also there is a train station within 300 yards, and it's around 2Euro to get to Cannes or Nice, we did the train to Monaco to see the changing of the guard at the palace etc, again only a few Euro for the return train journey.

A great spot to get the buzz and razamataz of the Cote d Azur, although a little too much for us these days, but we loved it when we were young, beutiful and stupid, but now that we are just stupid, we go to the Southern Ardeche!.

Camping Club Holiday Marina at Port Grimaud, good site, lots of residential. Touring pitches have private facilities. Easy walk into town, water taxi to St Tropez

Camping De la Clape at cap d'agde big site, nice pool, good bar and restaurant. Communal BBQ facilities around the site. Direct access to beach. Easy walk to marina area with umpteen restaurants. The Harley festival was there when we were there at end of august and we had to wait 20 mins for the procession of bikes and trikes to pass, i thought great, my missus said to grow up i'm too old for a chopper

My wife and I stayed at     Camping Europ 2000 - 960 Avenue des Campings - 34340 Marseillan Plage - Tél. : +33(4) 67 21 92 85     earlier this year and found it to be a very good site. Family run and not many children, for those who want a little peace and quiet. It has access to the sandy beach and there is food on the site...........We would go back again if we were in the area.
