Hi

We are hitting the road (and sea) to Italy next weekend and although I dont normally plan our camping trips im so desperate to go that im looking into it all and finding myself planning just to satisfy my needing to go right now urge.

I think im narrowing sites down but sadly there are no reviews for Italian sites on here so I was wondering if anyone has been to the following and has reviews on them maybe on a blog or something.

Campeggio Ranocchio which is near Lake Como

Weekend - to be honest ive found good things on this camp site already by searching on here so not too worried about this one.

Toscana Village, Tuscany

Thanks in advance.

There's a Toscana Village review - you click on "other countries", then Italy to find it, but it's 3 years old, and I don't think the other two are on. Maybe Trip Advisor or Zoover has something on them ?

You can see quite a few reviews for all three sites on the Camping Cheques website.  Click the links and scroll down to the bottom of the page.  Many are in Dutch/French, but you could use Google translate to work out what is being commented upon.

Rannochio - Camping Cheques accepted from 13/08/2011 - normal price not found, website not working.

Weekend - Camping Cheques accepted from 14/08/2011 - Price on that date 40 euros - you could save 23 euros per night!

Toscana Village  - Camping Cheques accepted from 20/08/2011 - Price on that date at least 33 euros.

Camping Cheques price £13.95 per night, including two people, pitch, car and caravan, awning, and electricity. Child supplements apply whether you use Camping Cheques or pay the normal site prices.

I hope this helps - and I hope you're using Camping Cheques as well, at least for some parts of your holiday.

Oh we will have a lovely time. We went to Garda for our honeymoon 12 years ago and im really looking forward to taking our son to Venice, Verona and Pisa etc.

Cheesystraw I booked the crossing earlier this year and were going to Dunkirk. 2pm crossing on 13th August. We did the 8am crossing last year and it was too much so this time we are staying in a travelodge on the way down on Friday night. We also have a premiere classe hotel in Luxemburg for the Saturday night then its camping all the way starting with a site near Como then moving on to Lake Garda then Montopoli. This will be for around 12 nights where we will then move onto Nice, Lyon and finally south Picardy before heading back to port on 1st Sept. Seems very odd to have it all planned as last year we just followed the sun and moved when and where we felt like it. We did plan on doing more of France but the lure of Italy is too much and we havnt actually been to the Tuscany, Pisa, Florence, Lucca areas ourselves yet.
