Looking at options for taking the caravan to France next year ( I like to plan early) I need some advice on how easy/difficult people find taking the caravan on the eurotunnel. I don't suppose anyone's taken a video of the whole driving on driving off experience ?

It really is very simple, the back or side of the train opens up and you just drive inside! Plenty of room to swing in, hubby thinks it's easier than driving onto a ferry and a lot less hassle!
We will prob do it again next year.

I was concerned the first time we did it and concerned again when we took our new van on for the first time which is 3 ft longer! Don't forget large coaches get on and off and they don't have the advanatge of being articulated. Where you board the train it is open on both sides so you can pull right across before straightening up and pulling into the first carriage. Here is a link to YouTube which might help.

Remembered a thread about this a few years ago when someone posted a few photos on the thread. Just had a quick look and found it, link HERE You'll need to go down about half the page on page 1 where there are 2 photos.
It's really easy, the platforms are huge, with lots of space to turn into the carriage from the platform, it really is a doddle.
Just make sure when you're inside that you don't go into the next compartment before you're sure there's enough room for the car and the van, despite people waving you on. Last year we were told to pull forward but the van wasn't clear which meant they couldn't close off the carriage and so we, and the unfortunates behind us had to reverse. At least it was in a straight line, but not to be recommended! No problems on our return, but we hung back till we were sure there was enough space. Otherwise boarding and disembarking are straightforward.

Are you allowed to take gas bottles on the train?
Yes, you are. There have been a few threads on this forum about this and I've just done a search inputting the words "gas eurotunnel" which then brought up THESE THREADS Just click on that and you'll see them, then click on any of them to read them, quite a bit of useful info there.
