Go ! We did t really eat out but felt no hardship at all as kids happy on site and we got some nice bread and stuff and of course you always get a table outside when camping! Appreciate that the day trips may be an issue but if it were me I would get some good books and a bottle of wine and enjoy the sun! Hope it works out - just done our post holiday budget for this month and its always hard as a mum x

Yes, go...we've just come back from the Vendee area and have had a fab 2 weeks even though the weather has been mixed.

Moneywise, we spent far far less than £1000 including petrol and tolls etc.  I take lots of dry goods from home (pasta, passata, tins etc), several packets of ham etc and just buy some meat and fresh salad stuff from supermarket and bobs your uncle...we BBQd 10 nights out of the 12 we were on site...we live on bread and cheese and ham etc during the day.

we spent our days on the beach and round the pool and evenings playing games outside the caravan or having a wander to the playarea...

I do hope you go and have a really good time...we're just looking into booking for next year taking our folding camper.

again thanks to all who have replied. We are more or less all set. Just need to get packed and we leave on friday night. it turns out the car bill wasn't as hefty as first thought so we now have £800 or so for our fortnight. that's more than enough for us to have a good time. fingers crossed the weather is good for us but nevertheless it wont spoil the trip as we are just looking forward to getting away as a family. thanks again for helping me make the right decision or i would have cancelled last week and no doubt would have regretted it by now.

I don't normally advocate this but why not spend the other two hundred you wanted on a credit card and worry about it when you get back.........?

Vic
