Just a quick note to say thank you to those of you who gave me advice last year and this on towing down to Valras Plage via Clermond Ferrand and Millau.
Having returned last week, I can honestly say it was the best towing journey of my life! Reaching a height of circa 3750ft thankfully the Skoda was, as you said, more than up to the job. We averaged 29mpg over 420 miles, only needed 4th gear twice as the VRs lapped up the hills in 5th and maintained an average speed of 55mph. The lead up to and the drive over the Millau viaduct was stunning.
It set up our holiday perfectly. Camping de la Yole turned out to be a great site - we loved it and intend on returning next year.
So, once again, thanks all - and if you've got the chance, take that route ( but do make sure you've got the power to cope with the hills! )
