Cany anyone tell me if they've taken their motorhome or caravan on the motorail to either South of France or Italy. Met a chap in France who was taking his car/caravan on the train back towards the UK, but I can't seem to find any info and hubby forgot to get details!! I've tried seat61 and railsaver websites but have drawn a blank. Any help would be appreciated. Motorhome is about 3m high.

AND ...when it did it cost a fortune..!! We used it when we went with Canvas Holidays way back in pre-history and it did the job , but at a price.Called Auto-train in France .

Well, to put a spanner in the works...I rang Motorail last year and was told yes, it was possible to take the caravan on and that was quoting a height of 2.2mts. I have been on the Motorail several times with my car (when I live in the South of France) and have seen lorries on there (though admittedly this was around 1990).

Thanks everyone, I thought we'd be too big, but just wanted to check if I'd missed a trick. I'll keep in mind ringing them next year when we travel south again. Jx
For those interested... the details of all remaining motorail services are on www.seat61.com Then scroll all the way down the left hand column until you find Motorail and click on that.
Then I got fascinated by details of rail services to China and started to read that as well..... What an amazing web site.
