Evening All, just back from first trip to South of France, Serignan Plage Yelloh Village site below Beziers. Left on the 10th August amid reports of poor weather across France but full sun for the last 12 days, no complaints other than at times too hot ! Picking up on a number of threads...Firstly traffic in that area horrendous, absolutely put us off going off the site other than for three days. No point in sitting in traffic jams in that heat, and will probably prompt us to avoid the area in future...secondly French drivers..not only tailgating but more annoyingly dangerous is that when we were in a line of tarffic overtaking lorries etc their practice was to undertake and dive in front of you, cutting off the safety margin that we created with car in front..they will do anything to push in front... Finally connected to the speedos debate.. the Serignan site has connected naturist accommodation and reserved section of beach..whilst their is a main pool are we ordinary punters and the naturists can also share a second adult pool complex by virtue of it being naturist until 2pm when 'we' more modest campers can take over the area. However what amazed me, and I still cannot get over this is that swimming shorts are not allowed as they are considered unhygienic, therefore only speedo type trunks must be worn!! Not sure about you but the fact that male and female campers can spend all morning swimming around 'in the nip' seems to me to defeat that argument??

A naturist pool will always be cleaner, all the bacteria is in the swimwear, hence the requirement for speedos instead of baggy shorts. I'm suprised anybody could be so near naturist facilities & not actually want to try it. How anybody can camp with clothes on in that heat is beyond me.
Some men and boys would otherwise wear the same shorts all week, sit on the beach in them, go around the camp site in them, and then go swimming in them. The French have the idea this might not be all that good for water quality in the pool, therefore ask men as well as women to change into swimming costume, and have showers before swimming. Why are Brits agitated about this ?

Tentz: we ended up on a part naturist part textile beach yesterday: so we braved a skinny dip: very liberating!
Yes the bit by the 'plage naturiste' sign is normally half & half so a good place to give it a go. Generally any beach away from the town is ok tho.
Just back myself from serginan plage (textile section). Excellent site but didn't try the naturist beach yet as my middle bit was too white and would have been a beacon to nearby shipping. Would love to try it (with factor 50)
Agree with the traffic problem especially the road to Sete, this is due to the other road being a toll road and the locals avoid it.
Don't worry about the white bits, the wobbly bits, the bits that drag on the ground etc. You will see all of these on a site full of liberated naturists.
Naturists are no more the perfect body form than anyone else. They are just ordinary people that prefer not to wear clothes when they have the opportunity.
