We're travelling Eurotunnel to Calais on Tues 30 Aug. - anyone know the current situation re French driver's strike threat?

Hi we are due to travel out , early morning (01:30 hrs) Thursday 1st Sept.

We didn't know there was to be a strike.

Have just googled it, and so far it appears to affect travel until Tuesday 30th August.

Eurotunnel has suspended ticket sales for this weekend.

You can get update alerts, so we have done that.

Hope you get away OK on 30th.

We're booked to return tomorrow morning(Sunday 28/08) through the tunnel - Check in at 10.20 for 10.50 train. We have the dog to check through the pet office too. I hope we're not delayed as we have the dog passport window of 48 hours to consider. Euro T did text us the other day warning of possible industrial action and advising us to turn up on time. The advice on their website has not changed yet- I'm sitting outside the bar at Camping La Chaumiere checking it out.

If things change I'll try and post again tomorrow.

We are booked on the Calais to Folkstone Monday morning at 10.20, fingers crossed there is not a major hold up. Might go early just in case.

No problems at all, infect they put us on the earlier train. However they did have lots of porta loos set up along the road going into the French eurotunnel just before the ticket booths. They seem to have changed the layout since i was last there you now go through customs before being allowed into the terminal building.

I come through today around lunchtime with NO problems whatsoever.
OK I was on the freight side but it was running better and smoother than it usually does.

Also came through yesterday afternoon. No probs at all. We were early and were offered a choice of two earlier times.

Have not used tunnel before and was very impressed with the service.

We came through yesterday morning. We were booked on the 10.24 service but were early and were offered the 08.54 or the 09.20 ... we chose the 08.54 and drove straight on. The only slight hold-up was at French Customs where they checked the car for explosives (slowly) and then re-checked ... they did us in a line of about 9 cars so it took some time as each car had to be done before the whole line could move off. This is not something that normally happens as we are usually just waved through ... "working to rule" springs to mind. Other than that, and the fact that there was no access to the terminal building, everything was fine. We would imagine it could get much busier later in the day with long queues which is why they have set the Portaloos up!!

Just arrived back. We were booked on the 7.20 am and sailed straight through check in with no problems at all and no sign of any industrial action. Got put on the 6.15am train which was less than half full so went straight through and didnt go near the terminal area so I dont know what the situation was there.

Hi Folks

Sorry but I've just got internet access again as we stopped for 2 nights to visit Cary's Dad in London.

We were booked on the 10.50 train on Sunday morning, 28/08. After checking the dog at the Pet Passport office we arrived at the Eurotunnel check-in at 09.56. The automatic check-in recognised our car registration and advised us that our booked (10.50) train was the first with space.

After a brief stop in the terminal building car park we proceeded to to the train. We were waved through French passport control/customs, briefly checked by UK Passport control. No explosives or illegal immigrant checks. The chap did come to check-in our gas bottle but when I said that he would have to wait for the return of Cary from the loo with the locker key he asked me if our gas bottles were off and accepted my assurance that the gas bottles WERE off.

We were the last outfit onto the train and had the 2nd to last carriage to ourselves. The last carriage was empty.

The whole procedure was smooth without any holdups but I still prefer the Norfolk Line Ferry so I think that will be our first and LAST return chunnel crossing.
