I've spent so much time in France, I've forgotten how to travel and camp in Italy!
I remember that motorway signs are green, and main roads blue. I can say good morning and please and thank you, and I know a campsite is campaggio.
Off on Wed, hope to be at Lake Garda early the following week. I know they speak english there, and german too, but I need a few pointers, please.

We were in Lake Garda from the 2nd to the 16th August. If you haven't booked a site yet we absolutely loved Campeggio Gasparina near Pescheria.
I can't think of much general advice that differs from camping in France.
Driving wise the motorway tolls seemed to be pricier than France. If there's a gap an Italian will pull out into it. Scooters go faster here than anywhere else on the planet.
No adapter was required for our electric hook up.
Feel free to ask any specifics and I'll try and help.
Thank you nick. We're aiming for Bardolino or Lazise, as we have seen the campsites by the lake there and want to use them, and they are also in the ACSI book! We won't book, there's enough camping round the lake, someone will have a pitch available.
Driving not my problem, and OH is a cool driver anyway. Nothing can be worse than Palermo in Sicily!
Enjoy! I'd been before but the beauty of the lake still took my breath away.
We also visited Verona and Venice while we were there. We got the train from Peschiera to Verona (about 15 mins). We had also planned to get the train to Venice but it was going to be over €100 for the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 young children). We therefore drove to Venice Mestre train station (it took about an hour), there's a relatively cheap car park opposite the station and took the train from there.

It's that age old problem, we've been to Lake Garda a number of times (but never camped), and love it. So whilst I'm sure that the other lakes are just as good, I don't want to risk spoiling the trip just for the sake of a change. It's the same with France, there are places we love returning to whilst probably missing out on equally good new places.
Hi in Interlaken at the mo, on our way home :( left Garda this morning after 15 brilliant days, we stayed at Lazise and loved it, we were at Camping Spiaggia D'Oro it was only a 500m walk into Lazise which was great. There were plenty of places to eat and drink and Lazise is a very pretty walled town. We didn't find it anymore expensive than at home, pizzas started at around 4 euro Lasagnes, Spag Bol etc was around 6.50 euro, beer in bottles was around 3.50 but one restaurant in Lazise did a litre for 7 euros! Weather has been extremely hot 38-40 deg most days however yesterday and the day before it was about 30-31 which was a bit more comfortable. We didn't have a problem with language everyone spoke English. Our site however was mainly German with a few Dutch, I think we were the only English there which was actually quite nice. This area of the Lake does seem to be mainly German. Re booking I dont know about other sites but ours didn't take bookings anyway. You just left your car and van at the top, walked around with a map to select a pitch and then we left the kids on the pitch whilst we went back to reception told them what we wanted and booked in.
Just come back from Rome - further down south than Lake Garda but just to warn you it is extremely hot in Italy at the mo, in Rome one day it hit 42 degrees!

We are just back from a 3 week trip to France,Switzerland,Italy and Croatia. We stayed at Sasabanek site on Lake Iseo-brilliant time! Mostly Italian's there who seem to stay for the Summer, great food in the cafe and restaurant and very reasonably priced. Pool on site and another larger one near the lake that you can use-complete with Total wipeout style assault course-my 3 girls loved it! We will definitely return to this one.
