We are thinking of going to the Ile de Re next summer.  We have looked at the reviews on UK Campsites and there are some possibles, however we wondered where the best beaches would be for bodyboarding. 

We also want a shop and pool and to be within easy walking distance of a village/town.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks for that Kelper. I will have a look at the website and find some reveiws.  Would you be able to body board at the beach, were the waves big enough?

We have just returned from Ile de Re - had a wonderful time.

We stayed at Camp du Soleil and it is a nice site (the lady who runs it is unfriendly but the rest of the experience was great).

I would not recommend the beach as it is very rocky and sea weedy.  The beaches are nice but a lot of them are rocky and some are full of very smelly sea weed.

We loved the beach at Le Phare des Baleines as that was best for swimming.  The beaches at le Bois Plage are good and sandy but are VERY crowded in the summer.

The beaches to the north are rocky.

The best beach for body boarding was le Gros Joncs at Blois Plage but there were only small waves the week we were there.

Really recommend taking or hiring bikes as it is the best way to get around on the excellent cycle paths.
