hi all - we're planning next year's camping holiday and are looking for a campsite with great pools and a number of slides

ideally in the Loire or Burgandy

anyone got any recommendations?

We visited Parc des Alicourts 3 years ago with two young children and the site had loads of things going on during the day and night. They had an outdoor theatre type stage and did loads of music/singing at night (not our sort of thing but the kids loved it). Its one of the best pool areas I have been to so far anywhere and it also has a Lake with a manmade beach that you can swim/boat ride on etc.  It has a fab indoor spa which you have to pay extra for and the site is expensive. I wouldnt stay on it again for the whole holiday, I would split sites as it is an expensive site when you get there and its in the middle of nowhere and we felt abit isolated there. They did arts/crafts activites during the day for the kids. Theres a great playground in sand which is safe and another one near the pool. The pitches were huge, I couldnt fault the facilities. We had a drink in the bar one night and it cost us 12euros for 2 drinks and thats 2008, pizzas were over 15 euros, theres no competition anywhere around so they can charge what they want. We found the sites in the Dorodogne this year alot cheaper than this one.

It is an expensive site, but booking direct is not necessarily the cheapest. We had booked direct and ferry through C&CC, but family on pitch opposite had booked ferry and site package through Eurocamp Independent, and had paid significantly less than we did.

I'd agree the bar seemed over-priced, by any standards. I remember carrying a tray of drinks that'd cost over £40 back to a table. Not something I'm in any way accustomed to. (not cos I'm tight and don't buy rounds..)

Great " grandad's beards" though.
