Bonjourno (sp???)

I'm hoping someone can recommend a campsite on the south side of Lake Garda (because eldest child wants to visit venice and it's closer) with great pools and slides.  We have 3 kids, 15, 11, 6 and good slides etc are an essential

However I'm told that we don't want a Butlins type holiday park.  So something with pools, slides etc that teens will love but also small enough to let the kids roam reasonably freely.  (a bar / restaurant / takeaway and shop would be good too please)

I'm hoping that someone can recommend a good site for a tent, or failing that, advise which to avoid (if that's allowed)

thanks in advance

Looking forward to more sunshine

Well Im not sure if this really is for you because its quite large but nothing like a Butlins though!  Bella Italia - we went here in 2010 and had a great time, it is large but its a good quality site on the shores of Garda with a short walk to the small town of Peschiera with a few bars, shops and restaurants.

The water park is excellent - I've just looked at their new for this year website and theres a photo on there which would scare the life out of you (would me) about a million people in the entertainment area, we went Mid August and it was never that busy.

This site is fine for tents but I would recommend you don't request a lakeside pitch as there are electric storms during the night frequently and they rage in from the lake  so you could do with being about 2 pitches back for protection.  We requested a large flat pitch away from main access routes on booking and they fulfilled our request.  Its expensive but really nice site.

I would go for Camping San Francesco at Desezano, IMHO a better site than Bella Italia. But it is all down to personsal taste.

Camping rocca at bardolino (east side) or camping fornella over on the west side perhaps? Try looking at some of the local lake garda websites for ideas - lots of sites.
