Can anyone recommend a campsite in the Blackforest, Germany. We are considering visiting next year last two weeks in August. We have two children 5yrs and 3yrs so a pool would be nice. Not too bothered about kids club etc. But the toilets MUST have a toilet seat!
I've found a couple of campsites but can't find any reviews on them: Camping Kinzigtal and Camping Landal Warsberg. Has anyone stayed at these site and what do you think of them?
Roughly how long is the drive from Calais? We would probably stop en route can anyone recommend a campsite to stop at.

Try Belchenblick. A family run site. We haven't been for a good many years but not only do you get toilet seats, but they also used to provide paper seat covers. Pitches are not over-large - but then many sites in the Black Forest have pitches which are on the snug side. Really good site - well it was years ago. Can't see any reason why it would have changed. I mentioned it before on here and someone confirmed the paper seat covers were still on the menu.
Thanks for the info D S B, I've just had a quick look at the website and looks like our kind of campsite. The site reckons it takes 7hrs 30mins to reach from Calais is that about right?
Looking at the pictures the caravans look very close together.

We went to Camping Kinzigtal this year and would definitely return. It has pre-erected tents but still retains a camp site feel, rather than holiday park. It's not a huge site at all. The facilities are good on site. There's free wifi in the shelter that the entertainment is held in. I say entertainment but it's very low key, and I think only in high season. We didn't use the kids club, but again they looked very low key + more aimed at the little ones. Sometimes in the morning it looked as if they had art stuff out in the entertainment place, that sort of thing.
The restaurant has HUGE portions, you could easily feed 2 children with 1 kids pasta dish. The toilets were kept clean, we were there in August and there seemed to be a full time attendant!
The swimming pool has a great play pool for very young kids, with a neighbouring sandpit. There's a hedge between it and the large pool, which seems like a well thought out design. The pool is set within a very large grass area, with lots of trees for natural shade. So it's an area that you could go and spend some time with youngsters. Without the fear of them roasting, or jumping in the deep end. a

Did you take your own tent? I've found a website for the site but it's all in German and I can't understand a word of it. Do the toilets have seats?

No, we went with in a Vacansoleil tent, because we got a good deal.
Hmm the Google translator doesn't seem to be working well for the site and the English section is empty. English was well spoken on the site so I'm sure if you put any questions into the online form, or quote request, under the Kontakt tab you'd get a reply. I had a look at the preisliste under the German bit (assume it's this years, not next) and can't quite make it out.
My husband has confirmed that even in the mens they have toilet seats! Soap and bog roll

Look at the ACSI Camping Card book for Alisehof in the Black Forest and stop halfway Prumtal Camping, Oberweis. both are mentioned in the UK Campsite listings.
I don't like the look of Alisehof, it doesn't look suitable for a young family, too many large groups. Prumtal Camping looks fab and will be on our list for a stop over!
Still not decided on our Black forest campsite Belchenblick is featured in the camping and caravan club brochure which we're a member of. The price list on Belchenblick website is for 2010 so have nothing to compare with. I will have to wait for 2012 C&CC brochure.
Camping Kinzigtal, I might see how much a pitch is with Vacansoliel if I can get one and compare the prices for both sites.
Then on the other hand I quiet like the look of Camping Kreuzhof, but I've read no reviews for it!
