We went to Poland in 2008. Excellent trip. I took a convoy of 9 vans, starting in , Gulpen, Holland, meeting 1 on the autobahn at Guetersloh in a 30 minute window, then up to Magelburg, Northern East Germany, onto Szczecin on the Baltic coast, the near Gdansk on Lake Tamowa for a rally with another club from Russia.
After that we went to Auscwich, Wracklow, East Germany, Brugges.
I contacted the Polish Tourist Office in London to get information on camp sites, they were very helpful. They gave me contacts in Poland for the CC&C equivalent, and a web site which gave all the campsites available at that time.
We found campsites few and far between, especially in Eastern / Southern Poland and stayed in hotels in Lodz and Wracklow. There is a campsite at Auswich
There was a lot of motorway building going on in the North which should be finished by now. Gdansk to Lodz took us 13 hours at snails pace. The motorway to Szczecin, although marked as such, is like a cart track in places. Wouldn't tow a caravan on it, bad enough with a trailer. From Szczecin to Tamowa area took an eternity on poor roads.
I put together comprehensive route information, timings etc for that trip. I based on travelling max of 1 tank of fuel per day, which worked out a good measure as some days it was motorway speed (110km/h), other days snail pace.
Lovely place, well worth the drive.
