Like many others, we are struggling to decide on a location for hols next summer.

We have done the Loire (3 times, love it but France is a big'ole place!), we did the Vendee this year (not impressed to be honest and wouldn't go back).

Our kids will be 19, 17 and 8. They don't 'do' beaches other than the odd day, but love sightseeing, swimming pools and chilling out for bbq's during the evening.

We were thinking about the South of France (for the sun) but a combination of long drive, high Cote-d'Azur prices, fuel, tolls and tiny pitch sizes has finally deterred me.

So, we are thinking Paris. Plenty of sightseeing opportunities, Disneyland Paris and Asterix for the little on (and kids at heart). Quite a few sites with large pitches (we have a big van and lots of accessories!).

Les 4 Vents and Les Etangs Fleuris are two of our top ones. Are there others we should be considering? Must be a pool and ping pong. Oh, and fresh bread & pastries in the morning. Ideally we would like something the UK side of Paris, but realize that this will put Disneyland on the wrong side.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Claire,

UK side of Paris you have Berny Riviere but might be a bit big and commercial for you and its about 90 mins to DLP. You need to consider access into Paris too as traffic is a nightmare so a site with easy access to a train station would be high on my agenda. DLP is great, I loved it as much as Chloe when we went a couple of years ago.

You could always look south of Paris near Versaille as well, dont know of any sites, its just an idea.

Hi Rhonda :)

I had looked at La Croix du Vieux Pont and initially I liked the look of it - but the more reviews I read, the less I liked the sound of it (especially the flooded pitches and stagnant water, quite a few people talk about it).

We're going to have a look South as you suggested, that was next on my hit list. We may even consider a Portsmouth - Le Havre crossing if the price is right, anything to avoid the M5 especially when the Olympics are on!

Caddy Clan. South side of Paris is Camping Beau Village at Villiers sur Orge. Gets 7 good reports out of 8 in camp site search. It's within walking distance of RER trains into the city. We thought it was good for a 2 or 3 night stop to see Paris, but it's not going to be a long stay holiday site.

La Croix is lovely ! but we have only stayed in mobile homes whilst there,so do not know about caravan pitches etc

fab pools etc and an easy hours drive to Disney

Berriow we would want a good base for at least a 14 night stay - with the amount of kit we have we don't want to be setting everything up for just 2 or 3 nights.

We have been to Etang Fleuris at Spring Bank for the last 2 years and have really enjoyed it.  Its pretty quiet at that time of year so cant comment on how busy etc it will be in Summer.

We stayed at Huttopia Versailles this year. The pitches were quite small, also the pool. But the access to Paris itself fantastic. About 5minute walk from the site to the RER station then 20mins to the Eiffel tower.
About 45 minute walk to the palace of versailles, although we cycled- took about 10minutes.
I would go back to this site because it was brilliant for getting into Paris.

I second Huttopia, expensive and pitches in a wood but for visiting Paris it's worth it. Palace of Versailles is a must visit as well, No wonder they lost their heads
