In my limited experience of Atlantic coast it seems quieter than Med and certainly in Gironde there are lots of cycle tracks - but the weather might not be so good, and aside from counting pine trees there's not so much to do if it's wet
If you dont like it too busy i'd avoid the western med region, stick to anything east of Montpellier, e.g Languedoc, much nicer. To me the south west coast is like Blackpool with sun!
Blimey - I've not been to Blackpool since 79 but from what I remember I'd say Gironde coast is only like the Blackpool area before they built Blackpool

After the freedom of the Med beaches the strictness of the lifesavers came as quite a surprise. Down the estuary towards Royan the sea is calmer but the open Atlantic coast is very powerful
We are at Camping Brasilia at Canet Plage. At the moment the site is very quiet. The weather is glorious. The beach is a hop and a skip. The pool is good and there is childrens entertainment (though having no children with us cant comment)
Showers and loos plentiful and always clean.

We wanted to go to Brasilia this year but by early September last year it was fully booked for this July / August so we went for Domaine La Yole in Valras Plage. 400m from beach, great site for kids ( 13 and 7 ). Valras is a bit like Skegness with heat but there are plenty of places to go - Carcassonne, Pezanas etc etc. We liked it so much that we will be rebooking soon...
