Hi all, my first ever post so please bear with me if this has been asked before!

We are planning on going to Camping San Francesco on Lake Garda for our main summer holiday in 2012 and was wondering if any members had knowledge of:

1. Overnight stops on the way - France/Switzerland - we are using the tunnel and will look to travel around 250 - 300 miles per day in mainland Europe, taking 3 days and 2 overnight stops to get there.

2. Camping San Francesco - I've only seen good reviews but any other first hand info would be good.

Hopefully somone will have some feedback for us.

Hi we stayed at San Francesco a couple of years ago and we loved it, pitches are not very big but adequate. Toilets and showers immaculate and plenty of them. Cleaners maintaining them constantly all day long.

We went to Lake Garda in August, as part of a longer circular route trip.

Eurotunnel - Koblenz, Germany - Iffeldorf, Germany - Lake Garda - (via Frejus Tunnel) Annecy - Troyes, France - Eurotunnel. 

Both outward and return routes were fine and delay / hassle free.  If we were going just to Lake Garda in future we would pay the tolls and go through France.  Much quieter motorway and for us (towing a folding camper) a significantly higher towing speed limit when in France (130km/h vs 80km/h) so journey time massively reduced.

We considered San Francesco but went to Campeggio Gasparina, I've submitted a review but it's still not gone live, in summary we'll be going back ASAP.

I think France will be the best option if we can find overnight stops en route...cost is a factor but not the main consideration as we are travelling in convoy with 2 other familes who have slightly younger children than our own...9 & 9 as comapired to our own 2 teenagers who probably moan more than the little ones...C'est la vie!!!

First overnight isn't an issue (Joinville, La Forge De Ste Marie) but finding somewhere around 250 miles to Garda which has single night stops in high season is proving more problematic!
