I started a thread earlier about two campsites i liked the look off on lakes which people kindly gave their views on,

 http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=7&TopicID=260439&PagePosition=1

1)   http://www.chalain.com/en/  - this got bad reviews so now out.

2 ) http://www.yellohvillage.co.uk/camping/le_fayolan - a few ok reviews.

I am unable to change my Main subject title, so I have had to do a new subject to broaden my search.

I need a good lake and roads for my boys to be able to practice for their triathlons when we are away, within approx 10-12 hrs travel from calais.600 miles ish.

Decent weather and temps, Ardeche was in the high 30's this year where we went so ideal for my wife.

Walking distance to a village or town would be good.

Pitch size around 100sq meters.

On site entertainment would be good, but not key.

Sites that have already been suggestedd are

La Pergola - opposite side of lake to Chalin.

http://www.larive.fr/

I think its the one dart18  has  suggested.  south west France

Thank you for any information given,

i would like to book asap, unfortunatly have to go around the 3rd of August which is always soo busy.

We liked Le Sougey but there isn't much in entertainment. The lake is excellent, though, and surprisingly warm.

Some people are just all show. I don't mind that if the show is worth watching, but .....

I can recommend here
It's got 2 lakes, a bar and a swimming pool. I can guarantee a very warm welcome from Garry too http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=5715

It goes against my instincts to recommend this one

http://www.campinglacdesaintcyr.com/

as I would prefer not to encourage too many people to go

But it is really nice there. Close to Futuroscope for a fun day out. Loads to do in the park itself and on the lake.   It is near Poitiers, can;t guarantee the weather though

We went to Les Gorges du Chambon last summer, no lake on site but not too many miles down the road is Le Grand Etand de St Estephe which has a good swimming area or they could practice against the current in the river on site.  There's plenty of quiet roads, lanes and paths for running and cycling with some hills around and an outdoor centre just next door.  The pitch we had was enormous!

La Ribeyre, SW of Clermont Ferrand. Small lake on site, large lake down the road. Lots of biking. Village a mile away.

It's good.

I would recommend Les Ygoires near Savines le Lac. Nearest big town is Gap or Dignes les Bains. Lake is Serre-Poncon, the biggest manmade lake in France. It is very big and the scenery is beautiful. There's loads to do in the area.

I've been reading these recommendations with interest, Xanitppe the lac de saint cyr looks really good. I'm a bit concerned that it seems to be open access for anyone who is visiting the lake though. Is that the case or have I misunderstood their website?

I read some horror stories about people having things stolen from their tents at other sites so wanted to make sure that only campers would be able to get in!

Thanks
