Hi All,

I have been looking to book Irish ferries from Ireland to Cherbourg for next June as the new prices have just been released, so online I go and put in the dates people ect, received base price which was €1258, 3 adults 3 children, I thought the price was not too bad. However I deceided to open up another screen and put in the times, dates, ect under the Tesco voucher code, (same dates, same people, ect)and the base price before the vouchers was €1528.

After checking terms and conditions which said that vouchers cannot be used on sales or discounted fares I phoned irish ferries, they infomed me they had only a

10% dicount on offer at them moment which means my voucher base price should be €1384. The lady at the end of the phone could not explain to me why the price was so high and would get a team leader to phone me, of course I'm still waiting. What is the point of having vouchers if they up the price first.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes they base the Tesco Vouchers price on their full price not on any offer prices as are on at the moment.    Last September our crossing was 150 Euros (600 Euros in total) dearer than the offer price but as this meant we only had to pay £150 in vouchers we got a free crossing with 3 star berths for that so we were very happy.

Unfortunately their prices in June, July and August are very high.

If you could go in August the prices are a lot better.
Comparison with July to what we have been quoted for August is a difference of 600E.
Booked using Tesco vouchers last year and unless you have a lot of vouchers, to take a significant amount of the total, it is not worth using them.

I understand that allengenealogy, which worked out great for you, however my problem here is, is that Irish ferries told me that the only offers running for the time and dates I wanted were 10% off the standard rate, which means the standard price should be €1384 not the quoted price of €1528, they have hiked the price another 15% on top, which is a total increase of nearly 25%

I know Nee-Naw I wish I could go in August, it is much cheaper, but have to stick with end of June, I still think they are trying to con us, and that really dose annoy me, still I will have to wait and see what they say, cause the figures just dont add up.

We got a free crossing Larne/Stranraer last summer with Tesco vouchers ... but yes ... we had to match their top priced crossing ... still, it was free.
