Hi we have caravanned in France since 1999, We have stayed on all types of sites but we choose the area first then the campsite.I have not yet been on a bad site but it helps if the site staff speak English. but you always get by as you all have camping in common.
Every village has a campsite run by local people ( municipl) I would avoid these sites as they are unmanned, and not all that good.
We are going to Champagine and Jura regions in June 2012 would you like to join us.
