We are two oldies with a caravan and want to visit the Arnhem area next year so would appreciate any info on campsites in and around.   Never been to the Netherlands before so any help/advice would be much appreciated, as always.

The ACSI lists about 9 campsite within 10kms of Arnhem so you have plenty of choice. Although we have been to Holland many times not really stayed in that area for a long time.  As far as Holland is concerned the traffic densities are similar to the UK. A bicycle seems to be the main form of transport and towns and villages are designed for them so if you take bikes with you it could be worthwhile. A lot of Dutch people speak excellent English which makes it a little easier. Credit cards are not widely accepted for food shopping but are generally OK for fuel.

We stopped at Camping Warnsborn very near to Arnhem.  Not an ACSI site but no more expencive.  It was excellent.  Our Dutch friends did a recce for a site near to Arnhem for us and stopped there in their Motor home.  They did not find the ACSI sites in the area nearly as good.  We could not fault it.

You can find it on listed on this Forum camp site listings for Holland with reviews.

We were ther in 2010 stopped near Maastrict this June that was good too on an ACSI site.

There is a lot to see near to Arnhem War Museum the bridges etc.,

We are off to Holland tomorrow morning, not caravanning but visiting our friends and going to Andre Rieu Concert on Saturday evening in Arnhem.

Contact me if you need to know more on Arnhem will be pleased to help.

We went there whilst on a South Lanc's caravan rally in 1983, we will never forget the bridge, museum and cemetery, a very moving experience indeed.

Best wishes and good luck.

We stayed at Camping Beek en Hei this summer. There is a review on this website. It was about 12 miles or so from Arnhem and we cycled in. The campsite is in the Hogue Veluwe national park in the village of Otterlo which has good local shops. The site is in the ACSI book.

Glad you have decided to stop at Warnsborn I am sure you will like it  Before we went there we asked our Dutch friends about a site in that area and they spent a week touring the ACSI sites and Warnsborn in their Motorhome.  They marked the sites by stars.  Warnsborn came out top 12 out of 10 Ha Ha. we had laugh on that I can tell you.  Our friends have been back many times.
